Main tasks
Restore and conserve the BCUL’s collections, particularly its heritage collections.
Ensure the preventive conservation of the BCUL’s collections, in particular its heritage collections, take charge of its function within the framework of the rescue plan (COSADOCA) and contribute to its development.
Carry out expert appraisals and solicit external expertise or restoration/binding mandates; participate in working groups.
Train trainees or apprentices, supervise auxiliary staff; maintain and develop skills.
Ensures that the workshop is properly equipped and maintained.
Desired profile
Bachelor of arts HES-SO in restoration and/or CFC bookbinder with restoration training (restoration accreditation would be a plus).
Master of arts HES-SO in catering preferred.
Ongoing training in bookbinding and restoration techniques, as well as in paper and graphic restoration, an asset.
At least 3 years’ relevant experience in a restoration workshop or as a freelancer.
Ability to carry out accurate, high-quality work.
Knowledge of book and document restoration techniques and bookbinding.
Self-control and stress management, a spirit of cooperation and mutual aid, organization and time management, ability to analyze and synthesize.
