De Humani Corporis Fabrica

“De Humani Corporis Fabrica”, a film by Lucien Castaing-Taylor & Verena Paravel
Using the title of André Vésale’s famous 1543 work on anatomy, this film uses the camera to visit the inside of the human body, revealing a landscape totally unknown to most viewers. Are we in the infinity of the galaxy or in the depths of the oceans? Moving back and forth from the inside to the outside, we follow surgeons as they cut, plane and screw, talking about everything and nothing, or, suddenly, about their exhausting working conditions.
An uncompromising film that raises vertiginous questions about finitude and the meaning of life, by showing illness in its most concrete aspects.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers
