1918, workers in struggle!

The end of the First World War sounded the death knell of the European monarchies and heralded a period of major upheaval. Faced with deteriorating living conditions, many Swiss citizens aspired to a more consensual decision-making system and greater social justice. From November 12 to 14, 1918, 250,000 workers, civil servants and workers from all sectors stopped work in protest, taking part in the biggest strike in Swiss history.
A selection of documents awaits you until November 14 at the Unithèque entrance.
