The First Slam Dunk

Ryota Miyagi, leader of the Shohoku High School basketball team, is known for his speed and intelligence. He and his team are about to take on the defending champions, the players from Sannoh Kogyo High School. The film takes place over the course of a single match, interspersed with flashbacks that tell us about the past and the state of mind of the players involved in the game.
Based on his cult manga, Slam Dunk, the brilliant Takehiko Inoue here adapts his own work for the big screen. You don’t have to be a basketball fan to enjoy this moving film with its unerring direction.
