Political and social commitment

Laurent Dubois © BCU Lausanne

The principles of justice and responsibility fully justify the political and social commitment advocated by Eastern and Western wisdom. But how can we reconcile the pursuit of individual happiness with the pursuit of the common good? What role do wisdom seekers play in our societies? What links do they have with politics?

The aim of this cycle of philosophical encounters is to shift our gaze in order to understand the specificity of Eastern wisdoms. For each theme, Maël Goarzin, a specialist in ancient philosophy, and Frédéric Richard, a specialist in Eastern wisdom, enter into dialogue and question the links between East and West. Exchange with the audience is a key element of these evenings, so we welcome you all!
