The fatal queen

Fine, colorful drawings take us easily to the heart of Egypt to meet Cleopatra, the woman and queen we all know from Julius Caesar, but who is so much more. As Caesar and Pompey wage war across the Mediterranean, we follow the story of Cleopatra’s life and reign, her marriage to her brother, her vision of politics and the way she manages her kingdom.

The authors make it clear that Cleopatra is an abhorrent woman in private and even more so in public, but she’s a woman in a world ruled by men, where any weapon is good enough to survive, fight and win… It has to be said that, as all the characters are endowed with a profound amorality, her detestable sides don’t arouse antipathy for all that.
